Hand dyed with love in Shropshire, UK.

Hello!

Thanks very much for stopping by and for your interest in my yarn.

I’m Emma, mum to two small humans and better half of John. All of my yarn is hand dyed with love from my home in Shropshire, UK. I am an avid lover of all things yarn and fabric related, whether it be knitting, cross stitch, embroidery, sewing, quilting or macrame and I’ve always got one project or another on the go!

I am passionate about yarn and strive to create unique colourways that complement the fibre and inspire and enhance your creative projects.

I aim to promote sustainability, inclusivity, quality and act ethically. To do so: -

  • I work with yarn suppliers who are local to me and check where my yarn has come from and the practises used;

    My yarn supplier is very local to me. My BFL is 100% British, from small farms across the UK. My merino is mulesing free.

    My dye supplier is a small family-run business in the UK that manufacture on site.

    Find out more about my yarn bases here and the dyes I use here.

  • I only use recycled/biodegradable/recyclable packaging;

    My orders are wrapped in acid free white tissue paper and sent in cardboard boxes or 100% biodegradable postal bags with an additive that accelerates the degradation process.

  • I only use natural fibres;

    I have chosen not to sell any yarns that contain plastic. For yarn suitable for socks, I sell a 100% BFL HT and 100% Merino HT; a 100% British Bluefaced Leicester and 100% Merino yarn that has been highly spun, for added strength.

  • I reuse as much water as possible;

    The dyeing process is pretty heavy on water use. As much as possible, I will reuse exhausted dye baths to dye or rinse yarn, reuse the water yarn has soaked in, collect and reuse water from drying yarn etc.

  • I reuse any dye or dyestock leftover from the dyeing process to create one-of-a-kind skeins of yarn;

    Sometimes I am left with small amounts of leftover dyestock, dye on utensils I have used in the dyeing process and certain methods of dyeing may leave some dye in the dye bath itself. I collect any leftover dye to create unique and non-repeatable colourways. These are the skeins in my Happy Accident range.

  • I use quality yarns, all of which have been tested by me;

    I will not sell a yarn that I have not personally, used, tested and can therefore vouch for.

  • A safe space for all;

    It is imperative that this website, all of my associated social media platforms, as well as any spaces I may physically occupy, are a safe space for all and that everybody is treated respectfully and equally. I absolutely will not tolerate discrimination of any kind.

I love to see and share what you create with my yarn, so please do feel free to tag me in any of your photos on social media (you can check out mine above).

I hope you find something here that you love. If you have any questions or fancy a chat, please don’t hesitate to drop me a line on my contact form.

Happy making!

Emma
