All About that Base; Vegan Bamboo Linen
I’m starting a new video series over on Instagram chatting through the yarn bases I currently have in the shop. First up is my Vegan Bamboo Linen.
In summary: -
70% bamboo, 30% linen blend.
Fingering/4 ply/sock weight.
Non-superwash yarn.
4 ply construction and 400m/437yds per 100g skein.
Bamboo and linen are cellulose fibres from the bamboo and flax plants respectively.
Bamboo has excellent thermo-regulating properties and is hypoallergenic and antibacterial.
Linen is cool and fresh against the skin and improves with washing and age.
This yarn will breathe extremely well and conduct heat away from the body.
Great for patterns where you’d like clear stitch definition, including lacework and cables.
An excellent choice for shawls, scarves, summerwear, lightweight jumpers and cardigans. It is suitable for garments for all ages.
This yarn has good drape and a smooth, subtle lustre. The yarn will soften as it is worked.
As the blend is fairly inelastic, I would suggest storing any made garments flat. Regardless, it has a good memory and any overdraping will be recovered when the garment is washed.
I would recommend washing your finished item in cool water (avoiding too much agitation), drying flat and reshaping whilst damp.
