Super Simple Brioche Cowl PDF Pattern

Intro
I’ve been looking for the perfect item to throw on quickly in the cooler weather, that stays put even in the blusteriest of winds, keeps me toasty, is not too tight and restricting and allows me to use my favourite yarns to make it my own. Sounds like a big ask, but I hope you’ll agree that my Super Simple Brioche Cowl ticks all of the boxes.

As this project is one colour brioche in the round, it’s fantastically simple and would make a brilliant first brioche project.

Extras
The pattern contains instructions for both one and two colour brioche.

There are tips for how to adjust your width and length.

The pattern includes instructions on how to marl a fade.

Size
The pattern is written in one size, with tips on how to easily adjust your width and length.

Finished sample measures 30.5cm long x 34.5cm wide.

Yarn
DK weight 280m/306yds or;
Fingering weight yarn held double 560m/612yds.

Can also easily be adapted for use with an added strand of mohair or suri and sport or worsted weight yarns.

My cowl is knitted in my Fade into Autumn 2023 set using Donegal Merino fingering weight held double in a marled fade.

Needles
4mm circular needles. Approximate circumference of 80cm or magic loop as desired.

Notions
1 stitch marker, tapestry needle, scissors and measuring tape.

Gauge
14 stitches and 21 rows per 10cm in brioche stitch (blocked) in the round. Exact gauge is not critical.
